The Golden Hour - Our Favourite Time to Photograph

We love photography so much that we'll shoot at any time of day, but we do have a favourite time of the day called the Golden Hour. This happens about an hour after the sun rises and before the sun sets!

Here are the reasons why we love photographing you during the Golden Hour!

1. As natural light photographers we rely on the sun to light our subjects and are rarely seen using our flash. This means we really have to understand the sun and how to work with it even when it doesn't want to fully cooperate with us! During the Golden Hour the sun is nice and low and puts a beautiful soft glow over everything!

2. The colours that can be captured in the photos are deep and rich and can be manipulated just by us moving around the location a bit. We can create dramatic photos or soft and light photos all at the same time of day.

3. We've photographed people in all types of lighting situations and shadows are always something you are aware of. As the sun moves high in the sky it creates a wider range of harsh shadows that may become a bit tricky to work around. During the Golden Hour the shadows are soft and long so you can use them and manipulate them to do what you'd like!

4. We have the opportunity to use backlighting and create lovely images by putting the soft sunlight behind you! It gives the photo a completely different feel and look!

5. We can get creative with sun flares and lens flares! I am OBSESSED with shooting sun flares when we're travelling or just casually taking personal photos for fun! These create another special look and feel to the photo and with the beautiful golden light and it's to die for!

So there's a little look into why The Golden Hour is so much fun to photograph! Keep in mind that as the year goes by this time of day changes, so check the sunset times online when deciding when to book your shoot to have the opportunity to be photographed during this beautiful time of day!
